Liverpool YMCA training

Liverpool YMCA training

Within the first two weeks of a member arriving at the YMCA they will complete an Initial Outcome Star. This initial outcome star is also used as a screening and assessment tool. This shows members scores on various areas of their life; it also gives other valuable information:
• Any ESOL requirements,
• Level 2 qualification?
• Additional support needs
• Information on their basic skills (maths, English & IT).
We have linked most of the areas in the outcome star with relevant training; Mondays workshops on independent living skills.
The sessions include:
Communication
Managing Change
Budgeting
Safety
Health
Sexual Health
Healthy Eating
Bank Accounts & Dealing with debt
Viewing a property
Bills & Utilities
Managing a Tenancy
Preparation for Work

The IYM Monday Workshop sessions have been designed to create an informal adult learning environment, many of our members may not have studied for a while or at all. So we try to create a comfortable environment that will engage our members. Using different teaching methods to meet our members varied needs and teaching styles. Any members attending all the workshops may meet the requirements of OCN Level 1 Award.

We also offer a range of Accredited Courses
CIEH First Aid
CIEH Health & Safety Level 1 & 2
CIEH Training Skills and Practice
OCN Level 2 Mentoring
CIEH Fire Safety Level 1 & 2

For those members who have got their confidence up in the classroom by attending sessions like the Mondays IYM Workshops, we can offer accredited training in the comfort of our training rooms, for many these can be the first qualification our members may achieve and can lead to them achieving level 2 qualifications or starting a course at college. We keep a record of our members who do not have a level 2 qualification and our goal is that we can support our residents to achieve this internally or externally.
