DISCUSS is a member lead YMCA discussion group centred on the issues
Of addiction which directly affect some of the members of the YMCA.

A brief description..........

The idea for the group came about following a trip to London by 3 members. They were attending a course called "Changing Our World" with 2 key workers
During the trip 2 of the members felt that they would like to become more involved in the field of addictions with the idea of developing this into a future career, discussion took place with the staff during the trip, and on their return they spent several evening discussing ideas and sharing thoughts. During these discussions they came up with the idea to run a Drug and Alcohol group, "which would be ran for the members by the members".
This was then taken to the member's panel for wider approval; the panel thought it was a "brilliant idea".
A plan was discussed and it was agreed that the group would start at the beginning of March 2009.
