Drama Group
The YMCA drama group helps develope members confidence and self esteem whilst giving a platform for them to perform some of their own work.
The YMCA drama group was developed by one of the YMCA engagement officers in conjunction with Marie Hyam a drama teacher, approximately 14 months ago. After an initial quite start it has grown in strength and has seen over 43 members during that time who have attended and have moved on.
Ex-members have expressed how their confidence and self esteem have grown as a result of attending the group, beforehand thet were quiet, shy, withdrawn or too embaressed to express their opinions. Now they are more confident within themselves and feel able to develope express those opinions.

In June members were fortunate to have the opportunity to perform some of their own work in front of a live audience at the Unity theatre, further proof of the difference the group makes in members personal development.
Also the group have visited the theatre on a number of occasions to watch plays, such as, "The Billy Fury Story" about his life and rise to stardom at The Gladstone theatre in Port Sunlight, the "Blackberry Trout Face" a story about three homeless people, how they coped with their problems and survived at the Unity Theatre.

Presently the group are working on a play of their own called "Why" and hopefully this will be performed by the members in the not too distant future.
